    Exhaust Manifold # 3932468

I look for some Informations about a EX. Manifold.
The # 3932468 LH 16 ist cast on the side.
We found the Manifold on a 327 engine use in a Bitter CD 1972 V8.
Bitter use Corvette engine for all of the Bitter DC Cars.
So we look for helb to find a repl. Exhaust Manifold.
I think, to weld the parts is not so easy ?? or have anybody
    a better Idea.
    Thanks Berndt

Berndt, Welding of the cast iron manifold should be a relatively easy task for an accomplished welder. Usually it can be welded with a Nickel welding rod or it can be brazed with a brass rod. I did not find a Corvette application for the 3932468 manifold but one Corvette application used a 3932461 LH part. Good luck, David Nims member #19639

There never was a GM #3932468 manifold casting that I can find. However, there were GM #3932469 and GM #3932465. You may be mis-reading the last digit of the casting number.

The GM #3932465 manifold is a "ram's horn" type manifold that was used for the right side on 1969 and 1970 Chevrolet passenger cars with some 327 and 350 cid engines WITHOUT A.I.R. This manifold has a straight outlet.

The GM #3932469 manifold was also a "ram's horn" manifold used for the left side on some 1969 Chevrolet passenger cars with 327 and 350 cid engines. This manifold is equipped with A.I.R. fittings and has a curved outlet.

Incredibly, both of these manifolds are still available from GM. The 3932469 is still available under that same part number. The 3932465 is available under GM #372243. The bad news is that they are expensive. The 3932469 currently GM lists for $257.69. The GM #372243 currently GM lists for $244.81.

Neither the GM #3932465 nor the GM #3932469 were ever used on any Corvette. The 3932465 could be used, though, for many Corvette applications. Also, the GM #372243 replacement manifold also replaces many earlier Corvette manifolds. It is equipped with A.I.R. fittings which can be plugged for non-A.I.R. applications.

I do not recommend weld repairs for exhaust manifolds. Using special nickel rod a repair can be effective. However, due to the heat used in the welding process and the fact that the manifold has undoubtedly been subjected to repeated heating and cooling cycles during its life, the manifold will usually crack again at a point NEAR the weld repair. It's just not worth it except for valuable, rare and/or irreplaceable manifolds.
