I used Meguire's clay bar system on an 82 that had overspray all over it. The glass and paint looked great afterwards.

I use backing soda on almost every thing and have had very good luck. The side windows on my 69 had some scratches and still does have a few but I was able to get most of them with baking soda.In Florida we have love bugs spring and fall, to clean them from your paint is a job.I use baking soda on the clear coat paint on my car,and the laquer on the vette if I have to and not a sign of any scratches.

I've used 4-0 steel wool to good effect and no scratches.

Don't do your mirrors with it though.

I do believe that the use of toothpaste may be effective if the scratch/dirt is fine as toothpaste does contain a fine abrasive. Give it a go, what do you have to lose?
