The spare tire carrier cover colour (That's a mouth full) on my 82 vette is painted silver green --the same colour (Canadian spelling) as the car. It makes sense for it to match the exterior colour and most everything on this car has been correct. Is this the way it came out of the factory and where (What books) do I look up this info. Thanks guys

Re: spare tire carrier cover colour --82 vette
Don,
I think someone has added body color to your tire cover some time in the cars history. The cover would have originally been unpainted.
I'd have to say you've already found the best source of Corvette information that there is anywhere, right here on this discussion board.- Top

Don------
No 1968-82 Corvette spare tire tubs were ever originally painted. They were natural, gray fiberglass. Earlier in the C3 period they were a dark gray. Later, the gray color lightened a bit.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
