C2 Carpet/sill plate/kickpanel area

1967 convt. Cannot find a real good picture of the forward sill plate - to - kickpanel windlace area. My Al Knock kickpanels have a thick windlace that is supposed to tuck under the forward sill plate with the carpet. Looks to me like this is not going to allow the sill to lay flat.

What am I missing here???

I may not be correct but what I do is cut the rubber insert from the windlace to the bottom of the kick panel that will leave the vinyl flat so you can tuck it where it has to go. DO NOT cut the vinyl. Peel the windlace apart if it is glued or if it is stitched carefully cut the stitches and peel the vinyl away from the rubber insert and trim to the point you need to. Reglue the vinyl and tuck as needed. I have worked on many Vettes that were judged at NCRS and Bloomington events and haven't had any complaints. Good Luck. Mike D#1787
