Re: Exhaust pipe temporary fix
re exhaust pipe temporary fix mark kane i had the exact problem with my mile lt last month i used a product called muffler bandage which i purchased at a local parts store to cover the hole until i found the correct parts if you check the archives you should find my old postings and the responses members provided the bottom line was that if one couldn't find an nos system walker made an excellent pipe and muffler for the car that was still available but the header pipe is out of production i was able to save my header pipe thanks to a skillful friend and a cutting torch most members told me to use allen's exhaust if i couldn't find the correct parts btw i saw an nos replacement system mufflers and pipes not welded together at carlisle for ouchMark

Re: Exhaust pipe temporary fix
re exhaust pipe temporary fix gary schisler i also used the product muffler bandage make certain that you lightly sand and clean the pipe before you apply the product i bought some muffler putty to put in the small dime sized hole before i wrapped it with the bandage the putty hardens like cement btw both of these products are for short term use as you said you would doing gary- Top

In Front Of The Muffler
in front of the muffler tom buddie if the hole is in front of the muffler where the pipe is welded then the bandage approach may not work because you have no way to wrap the bandage for a good mechanical repair the glue bandage may not adhere well enough if the weld is rotted then you should just replace the muffler if the weld is still good you can wire brush the crud off wipe down with lacquer thinnner for adhesion and apply jb weld epoxy if the hole is large fabricate a piece of metal to match the irregular hole plus overlap epoxy the metal patch on first after it sets up apply a second coat of jb weld i use tin snips and soda cans beer cans whatever i can dig up this is a temporary fix but it sure works for me as the need arises i've used the bandages also but only when i could wrap the hole- Top
