    C1 yellow markings2

My car was a very rusted/greasy michigan car that has been "cleaned up" and had very few markings. Ordered the Quanta kit for my 62.

Issue is that they do not mention most of the marks I do have.

I found yellow dabs on the lower control arm pivot shafts. These were different on both sides but are mentioned in the JGM

Also yellow dabs on the tie rod attachment bolts and mentioned in the JGM.

But the question is the bushings
My control arm bushings not mentioned in the JGM or Quanta kit.

My plan is to put these yellow marks back on my car bushings and hold the pics for evidence. Am I right in doing this? Does anyone else have these marks on the bushings?

Chris, it would be criminal to do ANYTHING except what you are planning; that is what restoration is about. I consider kit instructions for duplicating inspection marks useful only if the original marks have been completely obliterated by the elements, or the car has been previously "restored" poorly, and the orignal marks lost for all time. Even then, I think anyone using such instructions would need to have inate skill at prevarication. JMHO

Because of the non-uniformity of inspection marks, judging most of them is impractical. However, if inspection marks are done properly, they add real class to a first rate restoration. There are no "wrong" marks if you put them back like you found them.

thanks Chuck. I had to look up that word!! But I do not have much choice since the marks are long gone from the elements. Michigan is very tough on a car.

Henige doesn't sound Irish...Maybe you got the gift of the Blarney from your Mom. Only kidding you, Chris. I'm surprised that any of those old crayon/paint marks survived in that climate, but you're proving that if you clean your parts carefully, many of them will still be there.
