    '63 SWC Fuelie

Just found a SWC that is said to be a fuelie, give me some sure fire ways to tell if it is a true fuelie car? The car has the wrong motor.

A lot of what it takes is gut feeling and you can't detail that enough in email to do you much good. Since every part can be replaced, it is possible it is. Or it is possible all those pieces are original. Or a combination.

Simply knowing what should be there won't tell you if they are original if there.

I had a friend once with a '64/'65. The front half was all '65 - clip, engine, parts, radiator, wiring, shielding, etc. Interior was '65. Roof was '64 and the chassis was '64. Title was '64 as was the VIN.

So if you looked in the engine area, it all looked original. And it was, just not to this car.

There are details like where the FI emblem should align for early and late cars, some wiring changes, parts that should/should not be there, and so on.

It would be best to have someone who knows these be with you. Post where you are and maybe someone can help you out.

"Wrong motor?" Does that mean no FI system currently installed?

If so, the only visual cues would be an original type '63 FI radiator support, holes in the LH fender apron to mount the air cleaner, 6500-7000 redline tach, and "Fuel Injection" fender emblems. All except the radiator support are easy to clone.

if it was an early 360 or 340 hp, there ought to be evidence of any or all three pieces of the tach buzzer being in place. the early 250 or 300, cloned to be a 360, may(if added by astute counterfieter) or may not(per factory ) have the buzzer component(s). mike
