Movay Chevrolet

I purchased my '63 in California in 1977. The rear license plate frame advertised "Movay Chevrolet" in Dixon, CA. I have "googled" the name a number of times but with no response. Does anybody know what happened to this dealership? Is it operating under another name today?

Dixon, CA is a relatively small town (population less than 20,000). Currently, there are no GM franchised dealers, at all, located in Dixon. I assume that Movay Chevrolet is out of business and there is no successor dealership. General Motors has had policies in place for quite a few years that tend to "eliminate" small town dealerships that sell in very low volume. Movay Chevrolet may have been out of business, though, well before these policies were adopted.

Dixon, CA is right on I-80 between the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento. It is flanked by the larger cities of Vacaville and Davis. Both of those cities have what amounts to "auto malls" adjacent to I-80. I would surmise that those "auto malls" and their dealerships have supplanted any "small town" dealerships that may previously have existed in Dixon. It's too bad to see these sort of dealerships go, but it's a "trend".

Thank you for the reply. I bought the car when I lived in Pinole, Ca. I think it had spent some time in the Richmond / San Pablo area. So it must have not ventured too far from where it was sold until I moved it to North Carolina.
