1968 L-71 Camshaft

Is it possible to determine if an engine has its original/correct camshaft without removing it?I,m begining to wonder if a former owner changed to a milder camshaft.I've read many articles how a L-71 has a lumpy or lopity-lop idle yet I find mine runs rather smooth at idle.

using a dial indicator to check the lobe lift and comparing it to the GM cam lobe lift specs. this MAY tell you what cam you have if it is a GM cam
