    C1 starter

When the car is cold the starter cranks the engine just fine. After driving for a while the starter has a hard time cranking over the engine. Is the starter on it's way out? Or is there another problem?

it's on its way out. take to local starter/genertor rebuilder and ask them to rebuild, install the four fields in the case( like the caddys, olds buicks of the era,) and ask for an origninal delco solenoid. good luck, mike

Mike is right, as usual. Classic symptom of heat soak on an aging starter. The only other thing to check is that the conections to the starter are clean and tight, both at the battery and the starter.

Thanks for the information, I will check the connections first. If not it is off to the rebuild shop.
