hi temp cast blast vs. cast blast

Does the cast blast paint from Quanta have the same appearance as the hi temp cast blast from Quanta?

Just wondering if I need both or if the hi temp, which I have, would be OK.

    thanks

    Chris-----

To my eye they are slightly different. However, I think that the hi temp version looks more like natural cast iron than the "standard" version, so I use the high temp exclusively.

Chris, since both are probably going to cost you deducts in judging, I don't think you need to fret over which is more correct. If you want to use paint to mitigate corrosion, and the hi-temp gives you a finish you like, then use what you have. Save your money.

thanks, just got back from the Michigan meet and looked at a car i the parking lot that went thru total restoration in ~98. All the "natural" parts were covered with rust. Since I am driving and I have read the clear does not work well I need to paint.

          chris-----

You've "discovered" the problem associated with "natural" ferrous metal parts----a MARKED propensity to "form an ugly orange coating" which is also, for the most part, "non-original". That's why I like cast-blast---it's not completely original, but, in my mind, it's more original than "the ugly orange coating". Plus, "the ugly orange coating" will not be impressive to or "understood" by the vast majority of folks that will be observing, inspecting, and "judging" your car.

No one has mentioned it, but I think the hi-temp version of cast blast paint is supposed to be cured with heat. I have found that on other parts that don't normally see high heat and therefore don't have a chance to cure, the hi-temp cast blast paint is not as durable as the regular version. If you can bake the parts on your kitchen oven to get the paint to cure than it seems to work fine. Warning: the wife will probably not be to happy the the fumes that you create!! But, your are probably best asking for forgiveness rather than permission... :-)
