Was glueing the buildsheet to the top of the gas tank still a common practice by 1978 model year? I have an early '78 (00829) VIN and wanted to verify options if possible.Thanks................

I believe that you can get a reprint of your tank sticker from the National Corvette Museum, check out their website.

Reproductions of the window sticker are available from the NCM only for Bowling Green-built Corvettes. Since Corvettes were built exclusively at St. Louis through the 1980 model year (and built at both plants for most of the 1981 model year), the NCM won't have records for a 1978.

I think that build sheets were still being affixed to the top of Corvette fuel tanks by 1978, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes, tank stickers were still applied to tanks in fact I've been corresponding with an 80 owner who was able to retrieve only pieces from his tank...the rest is still there! Something to be said for leaving them in tact and on the tank!

Those 78 owners I've talked to that have their stickers usually find them in other places...like suspension and under dash.

Build sheets (versus window stickers) are provided by NCM only for Bowling Green cars as Joe indicates...that limits it to 81-82.

Ironically...we were at the NCRS Charlotte meet in April 04 and an owner with a very low mileage (5 miles) was looking under his 78 anniversary car and spotted the build sheet stuffed in the bracket that supports the strut! I got pics!

So owners do find them and not always on the tank...
