    '67 Rear-main seal, B.B. with manual

About how long a job is this to do on a lift, anything else to change/inspect while I am at it? I belive my seal is gone, mostly from sitting, small puddle on the floor comming from near the filter or inspection cover, I haven't got underneath it yet to inspect fully, will also check to make sure it isn't the oil presure fitting. Is there anything else to look at? I believe since the motor is out of a '71 then it would be the rubber type seal not the rope is that correct?

    Thanks,
    Tom M

if you have to drop the rear main cap make sure you seal it like it shows in the GM shop manual or you will still have a leak even with a new seal.

        Tom------

This is about a 1 hour job if everything goes well. Lower the steering relay rod, remove the oil pan, remove the oil pump and, finally, remove the rear cap.

Inspect the oil pump for any problems and that's about it.

Replace the seal with GM #10117767 or Fel-Pro #2918. This is a fluroelastomer seal and is absolutely the best thing out there. Make absolutely sure that you follow the sealing procedure that Clem mentioned.

I recommend replacing the oil pan gasket with Fel-Pro 1 piece gasket # OS-30061-T
