    C1 Dipstick

I've purchased a supposedly correct dipstick from Corvette Central, didn't fit (too big to go in engine tube which is 0.300 ID); they kindly sent another (different maker) which also doesn't fit (0.320 wide at the top).
Q1 - is my engine tube narrower than it should be?
    Q2 - where can I find a correct dipstick?
    Thanks, ...Al '58 245hp

            Al, I Think They're Saying...

Correct reproduction (engine oil) dipstick tubes do not exist for your 58, and that you will have to resort to prospecting for pure gold...i.e. junk yard scouring for a used original tube (most probably went to the crushers 20 years ago). If I am wrong in my interpretation of this "C1-talk", someone needs to tell Al where he can find a dipstick tube.

You might try those vendors like Paragon that sell "vintage" or used original parts. Expect to pay commensurately more for having someone else do your prospecting for you, but it might be faster in the long run.

"Dipstick can be reached in Lyle, WA" is an inside joke on a former National Judging Chairman.
