68 dark blue window crank handles?

Does anyone out there have an original 68 corvette with dark blue interior (trim 411)? I am wondering if the window crank handles had the same dark blue color or were they black. Thanks, Terry

My 68 interior is 411 but not terrible original - besides I have power windows.
I can't vouch for this car but it is advertised as a super original low mileage survivor. Knob appears to be blue.

      Terry-----

The original window crank handle knobs on your 68 with 411 interior trim were dark blue. They were of GM #9715959. These wewre discontinued by GM years ago, and I don't think that they're currently reproduced. However, you can purchase a window crank handle with clear knob and dye the knob using interior "dye". The plastic used in these clear knobs will "absorb" enough of the "dye" to render it permanently colored after excess dye is wiped off. It won't be perfect, but it will be close.

Actually, the handle used for 1968 differs from those sold today in other ways besides the knob color. Although they are generally similar in configuration, the angle of the 68 handle was "flatter" than the current SERVICE handles.

One tip: look for a late 60s handle in another GM car. Those used on the rear doors for 1968 Chevrolet 4 door passenger cars are exactly the same as Corvette. Those used on all doors of 1969 passenger cars are very close to the same. Then, after you've found some, remove the knobs (which, likely, will be about ready to fall off anyway if the handles are original). In an auto parts store in the "Help!" red carded parts section, look for replacement CLEAR knobs. Dye the knobs be spraying or immersion in dye of the appropriate color. Wipe of the excess dye before it dries and re-do the application as necessary to achieve a smooth, even finish. Last, install the knobs on the handles.

Thanks for the advice. I have a couple of different crank handles. I have a set of 414 handles and if worse comes to worse I will dye them. I will likely try to find some originals though. Part of the fun for me. Thanks for the reply. Terry

Yes, Mark, that is the shade called "dark blue." The other one is a bright blue. A picture is much better than word descriptions.

              Terry,

I have a set of dark blue window handles that I bought, because they were represented as black. Email me if you are interested. They are nice, but not show quality.
