wheel cylinder bleeder valve w/ end screw???

Did 53-62 vettes really have the bleeder valves with the end screws? No mention in JGM but Paragon sells them and states that this receives scrutiny at NCRS. What size do I need, 5/16 or 3/8?

Hoping I need to buy more/more/more/more stuff I don't have!!!!

I did see in the parts manual that the C1 vettes did use this end screw on the bleeder valves. But it looks like the bleeders I have in my car do not have the internal threads even though the cylinders are Delco. Any body confirm the end screws were used in production?

Chris, I have found that 53 thru 59 corvettes had the bleeders that you mention. I beleive that some time in 1960 they changed to the newer style. The hole that is in the end of the bleeder is taped with a 10-32 thread. The screws are usually an indented hex head although I have seen just a plain hex head. Both styles had an attached external star washer. Most original wheel cylinders used a 3/8-24 bleeder. Some of the newer wheel cylinders used the 5/16-24 bleeder. Best to check the size that you have before ordering.

I have seen people judge for correct bleeders.

Paul, thanks for the info. I will send back the bleeders with screws since I have a 62 and there is no mention of them in the JGM for 62. Are they mentioned in the 53-59 AIM's?

        thanks, Chris
