66 corvette: I have a new clutch and it seems to be slipping. Can this be adjusted out by adjusting the clutch rod?

Re: Clutch adjustment
Possibly. The clutch rod comes out of the firewall to the bellcrank. Where it connects, there are two nuts that allow you to move the rod attachment up or down the clutch pedal rod. Moving the adjustment point away from the fenderwell (towards the firewall) will give more slack in the clutch, allowing it to be fully engaged. If you run out of rod, then something else is wrong.
If you have a small block, you should have a long throwout bearing. If you have a big block, you should have a short throwout bearing. If someone put the long TO bearing in where the short TO should be, you may not be able to adjust enough.
A lot depends on the clutch, the type of clutch, who made it, and so on. Non stock clutches can often require more adjustment or different parts.
There is a chance that some of the linkage is wrong and that you may have other problems.- Top
