    67 Steering Wheel on eBay

These prices will keep the vendors from bothering to sell at Carlisle and Bloomington.......Craig

Re: 67 Steering Wheel on eBay

I bought this steering wheel from this guy about three months ago. It's a great sterring wheel except for the fact that when I recieved it and looked at it, I saw that the wheel was out round. I then measured it and the horizontal was wider by 3/8". I had to threaten him with reporting him to ebay and because I judge NCRS I would tell everyone that I met not to deal with him. He finaly took it back and replaced it with another wheel that he "had been saving for himself".

The ebay steering wheel is for a 1967 Corvette as seen by the overlap at the center. How can a 1965-1966 steering wheel be used on a 1967. The hubs are different. I was offered a nearly new 1966 steering wheel that I would like to use. It's in perfect condition. Is there a way to use it? It is so nice I hate to let it go.

you can use a 63 to 66 vette wheel on a 67 by using a 63 to 66 hub. the 68 camero wheel is identical to a 67 vette wheel. mike

I was referring to this wheel. I had brought to use on either my 67 or 68. Don't know how 65-66 got into it.

Hi Dale, that brings up another question. What's the difference between a 67 and a 68 wheel? I was told the texture was different but never really did know for sure.

Has it finally stopped snowing in Minneapolis?

mike: think the 68 is a black wheel and as you know the 67 is simulated wood. my batting average hasn't been too good on the c-3's lately though. mike

Ok, well, guess that shows ya how much I know about 68 and newer. I still can't tell the difference between a 76 and a 77 without looking at the VIN.
One of my X wives had a 68 with a wood wheel and I thought it was correct. I know near zero about those cars.

                      Ralph -

The teak wheel vendors supply a crescent-shaped stainless piece with their flat-center wheels that's the same thickness as the '67 lower spoke which fills the recess in the '67 hub, and has two holes in it for the screws at 5 and 7 o'clock.

--------A 63 thru 66 wheel will bolt right up to a 67 hub. Same bolt pattern. Theres just a small gap at the bottom where the bottom spoke on a 67 is below the level of the other two spokes. Dont jump down my throat as I know it isnt correct and would be caught by any judge, but the question was weather it fit or not and it will. A 67 has the same bolt pattern as the 63 thru 66s but will not bolt to an earlier hub because that bottom spoke interferes. The two hubs are visibly very different as well. The 67 is much shallower than the 63 thru 66.
--------I have seen a couple of different Bubba jobs over the years where a guy cut a notch in his 63 thru 66 hub so that he could use the 67 wheel. If a guy actually took his time and did it carefully he could do a good job, but invariably every one I have ever seen was butchered. Apparantly, a guy smart enough to do the job in a neat fashion is also smart enough to figure out switching the hubs.
--------And, Mike, as far as I know 68 wheels were identical to 67s. The smaller diameter black wheel appeared in 1969..............Bill S

                            Re: C3 Experts

So, my X wife's car was correct with the wood grain wheel?? Looks like McCage and I both need to stay away from C3's because I know even less than he does. Anyway, if that's the case, why is the part number different for the 67 than it is for 68? The only thing I ever heard was that one had a grain and one didn't. Is that correct? (hey Mike, we'll be C3 experts in no time)
