    Tar Top Battery - Source?

Subject says it all - anyone still making/reproducing a GENUINE DELCO tar top battery??? Looking for source for my 1963 - took hit for the one I bought from Restoration Battery

    Rick-----

The only other source for reproduction batteries that I know of is New Castle Battery of PA. Whether theirs are any more correct than Restoration Battery I couldn't tell you.

What was there objection with the battery. I bought my battery from the same vendor, the judges never said a word.

          I had one from...

Antique Auto Battery. The only source I know for the 1955-only "Delco" battery. I gotta buy a new one, damn thing turned up with two dead cells last month, only been in the car fourteen years. The link below is for their "Corvette 1961-66 DC12 Delco" battery.

            Rick,

Got mine from http://www.antiqueautobattery.com/ They supply Paragon and others. About $150 plus Date coding added for $10. It's a beauty.

Note that the tar is not real other than in appearence.

            Joe..

                  New Castle Battery Link

I spoke to the main guy at New Castle about an R89W repro back when everbody was paying insane prices for the few remaining NOS batteries. A few years later, they delivered. I don't know how their R89W does in judging either, but he was a heck of a nice guy and he understood the problem.

their battery is a PLASTIC TOP also, just like Restoration Battery - they look like the original battery and have the correct caps BLACK with yellow letterd, etc. but not a tar top

will talk with them, but looking at their weblink, the top looks plastic just like the ones from Restoration and Antique!

rick: why not "paint" the top of the plastic lid with reaL TAR. save tar you don't use, bring a goose down pillow and we'll "roast" the augusta midget. mike
