cove trim paint j grantham i have painted the cove trim times and the black paint will not stick to the polished aluminum the original paint was hard to get off but in poor shape what kind of preparation paint should i be using here jim grantham

re cove trim paint ed mccomas you might want to give zinc chromate a try remove all of the paint clean the parts then apply a coat of zinc chromate the purpose of zinc chromate as i recall is to allow paint to stick to smooth metal surfaces i am not sure where you can get zinc chromate these days it has been about years since i last used it
