It's two days to Breckenridge and my winshield washer pump is on any time I turn on the wipers. My guess is that I have a wire hot all the time that should be switchwd. Any of you "sparky " experts have a suggestion. It's a 65. Both speeds work fine it's just that the washer never goes off and is on even when I've just turned on the wiper???? Jerry

Re: C2 HELP TWO DAYS TO PV !!! washer pump
Jerry:
Remove the connector with 2 leads, and try the wipers again. If the washers don't actuate, then you have an electrical problem, probably in your switch. If not, then the washer bellows engagement pawl might be stuck. Recommend looking at your shop manual, which has some good pictures. Remove the cover from the transmission (wiper), and check for broken spring on the pawl, or hardened/excessive grease. Have a few beers. Good luck on your PV.

Re: C2 Now what?
I ran the wire pull test and it still pumped.(GOOD TEST) So I removed the cover on the pump section and checked the solenoid function. When power is applied to the solenid it holds the botton plate with the little point sticking out of it. I am guessing that the little point is supposed to catch the rotating wheel with teeth on it and stop it but is that correct ? it looks like the drive for the pump wheel just keeps on driving. If the little point of metal on the plate from the soleniod is supposed to hold the drive wheel then I can reinstall but I don't see why it won't stop pumping, Could soemsone who understands how this washer pump is supposed to engage and disengage pleas help me sort this out. I'm lost and I only have 22 hours to get it sorted. Jerry- Top

Re: C2 Now what?
Jerry:
When the pump solenoid is energized, it kicks out the pump drive pawl. The pawl engages the wiper transmission gear FOR ONE COMPLETE REVOLUTION, after which it is disengaged by a small release spring.
You really MUST have the Shop Manual. You might have a missing or broken return spring. This is very easy to lose during rebuild, trust me. Took me a good hour to find it. Anyway, without the spring, the drive pawl will not disengage. See pp 12-18 thru 12-22 for pictures. Fig 34 shows the spring.
If you don't have the manual, let me know and I will TRY to send it to you via email. It may or may not copy well, though.
