59 CORVETTE WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT

I am removing a 59 incorrect windshield and replacing it with a correct dated lof. I have read all the manuals and everything that I can find on the subject. Has anyone replaced a windshield?. If so please please please give me any tips that you can on the subject.

Steve, I did last Spring on my '56. Go slow, no force. The Corvette Service Guide ST-12 is good to have on hand. On purpose I *did not* put any sealer between the rubber and the glass. I believe this works best because you don't have sealer goo all over the place (a real mess) as you assemble the glass and rubber to the frame. Others have told me that sealer didn't work well for them during assembly. I did put a thin bead of silicon in the body windshield frame channel in front of the hold down bolt holes. Any water driven between body and frame won't go into the passenger compartment. Once the windshield/frame is mounted on the body if you want to put a little sealer between the rubber and glass do it. I didn't. I don't plan to drive my Corvette that much in the rain and it leaks everywhere else anyway, always did. Regards

Agree with Jim, skip the sealant. Just makes a mess.
