    C1 Oil Pan

Hello, once again I need a little help. My early production 58' BigBrake Fuelie has the 1957 style oil pan which has the normal 3 steps with the plug in the bottom center just like the later years but it also has a set of channeled type indentions on the bottom of the middle step. These indentions are on the bottom left & right-hand sides of the center step running from front to back. My original pan looks like it went through WWII and it isn't repairable. The engine builder is about to complete his job and is waiting for me to find him a pan. Can anyone help me find a nice original with the above description??

      Jerry and Justin------

Yes, that's correct. The pan is still available from GM under GM #359937. This is a "3 step" style pan which will SERVICE all 57-62 Corvettes. It's a "trap-door" baffle style pan. It's overall external configuration will vary very slightly from the original. However, it's BRAND NEW and will SERVICE your application PERFECTLY.

Thank you for your responses. Although the GM replacement has the 3 steps as my pan, it still doesn't have the "channels". This is such a unique car and I really would like to find the exact thing that actually came off of it instead of a "close" replacement. Any Help????

I would take Joe's advice and get the new pan to complete the project, then keep looking for the pan you want. That search may take a long time, no sense tying the car up. If and when you find the right pan it is not that difficult to replace. Just my 2 cents

            I think you're felping me here - it's your

contention that the 3 step wih the deeper channels is oil pan #3736615 that shows up in the parts book in March 1957 as the service part for 56-8? Does it have 1 long indent (whole depth of pan) on each side and 2 short (about 1") indents about 4 inches forward of the long one on each side?

With the GM #359937 oil pan I would recommend the Fel-Pro 1 piece gasket of part number 0S-34510-T. This pan uses the 75+ style gasket and that's what this particular Fel-Pro part number is.

#359937 on the driver's side has (going

from the front) a 1" long groove, a 3"groove, the long groove AND another 3" grrove. The passenger side is the same but LACKS the last 3" groove.
