    C1 Fuel Pump bolts

Can anyone tell the correct mounting bolts for a 58 245 HP with pump # 4445?

Gene, I'll jump in with a guess and say they should probably be a 9/16" hex. As far as a logo, if any, no clue. Best, Dennis

My 62, which may have incorrect fasteners had dishhead bolts with a large flange head and split lock washer.

      Markings are -B&H-

Paragons replacements, 56-66, and stated grade 5, are exactly the same bolt as mine except the marking is

      R|S
      - -
      C

I would think that mine are correct and most likely so is Paragons since the same bolts were used for so many years. What do you have?

Gene the markings I tried to put in the previous message got messed up in format.

The slashes are the same on both sources. A vertical one at the top and two horizontals thru the center of the head.

            Gene,
I believe that ALL that fuel pump bolts of this era are a flange head bolt with a reduced hex size (1/2" If memory serves me right). The reduced head size was a real advantage when installing the pump, as it gives more wrench room. My recollection is that they are an indented head bolt with a flange head and are cad/zinc plated. I do not recall any head marks, but I will look at some when I go out to the shop today. They are the same as any passenger car, and there are lots of them in the junkyards.

            Regards, John McGraw

According the AIMs, this bolt is part #

              3751824 in both 1958 and 1965 and the 1970 Standard Parts Book id's this as 3/8" # 16 thread that is 1 1/8" long. When I dig out the 65's plastic bag, this gives up a 3/8" #16 1 1/8" long that uses a 5/16" head and is a grade 5(? - three dashes) with a "U" logo.

I stand corrected on the use of the use of the reduced size hex. I, for some reason, thought it came into use a little later. However, what's left of my memory wants this to be a 7/16" hex, not 5/16... And the smaller hex DOES make the install easier, along with putting the camshaft on #1 TDC.
