    C2 window problem

I have a 63 coupe with a pass.window that will only roll half way down. I am assuming a window regulator problem. However, can I use needle nose pliers to remove lock ring behind the handles , or do i need a special tool ? I have never had to take a door panel off.

There is a special tool available at almost any auto parts store for about $5 that will make the job easier, and less chance of damaging your door panels.

A thin straight screwdriver works fine.

On some door handles and cranks you can use a small piece of a rag, wrap it around behind the crank/handle and work it back and fourth. The rag will usually catch on the end of the clip and pulls the clip off as you work the rag back and fourth. Most of the time the clip will stay in the rag and you don't drop it or lose it because it went flying somewhere unknown. An old auto upholsterers trick when you don't have the right tool at the time. Mike D. 1787

I made a small hook at the end of an old heater cable wire to hook onto the clip and pull off. I also cover the area with a cloth to catch the clip if it jumps off.

                YES!

Needle nose pliers can be used IF you're careful with them. The comments of others regarding use of the special clip removal tool and an L-shaped hook tool are also on the money. Personally, I prefer the L-shaped hook to anything else, but I've used 'em all (EXCEPT the shop towel method--BTW 'shop towel' is the official name for this item; NOT rag...I knew the inventor!)

                  Shop towel vs. rag

                  Jack,
LOL You knew the inventor of the shop towel or the rag? In either case you are older than I thought.
