C1 shifter to trans bolt torque discrepancy?

I am bolting my shifter assembly to the 4 spd trans.

Per section 685 sheet 1 of the AIM the torque should be 22-29

Per sheet 2 it should be 11-16.

Am I reading this right and is there an error in the AIM? What should it be?
    (the 3 spd shows 15-20.)
    thanks

Of course, unable to give you an answer, but...

... believe I'd use new lock washers, blue Locktight and, I'm really not sure how you'd get a torque wrench on those babies. Course, I'm usually doing the tightening w/the tranny in the car. I'm just tickled to get a wrench on the stupid bolts. Don't overdo...

Chris, May I suggest in this case...

...you ignore the AIM and use lock washers. Actually, I find it hard to believe they weren't originaly used. Never played w/a C1 that wasn't so equipped and the normal mechanical assembly logic would call for them. Whatever. I will say, I've never received a judging deduction for those 3 washers or for the blue Locktite. Best, Dennis

If you look closely at the AIM it looks like there is an "indication" of a washer outline. However no arrow or part number shown.

The early A.I.M.'s weren't very descriptive, but this is a case of the 4-speed shifter attaching "same as production" (the 3-speed shifter); look in Section 7 and you'll see the shifter bolts and separate split lock washers - same parts were used on the 4-speed shifter.
