Has one crime ever been solved by them?
I'll be the first to admit I've been pulled over, but the the officer was always BEHIND me. We have no front plates in PA, and the roads have not degenerated to Mel Gibsons' "Mad Max". This should be sold as a cost-cutting measure.- Top

Just signed. I have heard that NJ doesn't enforce display of front "QQ" historic plates. Any of you other NJ residents hear of this?- Top

Re: Petition to eradicate N.J front license plate
Thanx for signing. I have N.J "QQRAIDRS" Historic plates for my 78 Pace Car. Even more so, if you don't have a front plate on a car that will get law enforcement's attention, you will be pulled over even faster. I have a front and rear plate on that car but try and get away with no front plate on my 02 Trans Am WS6 because it just looks so much better without a front license plate. What helps though is I live about 14 miles away from Atlantic City. Because of the Casino's there are so many cars from Pennsylvania or Florida a lot of times the Police won't notice you.- Top

Re: Petition to eradicate N.J front license plate
I've got a better one. In New York, your not allowed to pump Cam2 into your car directly, you have to put it into a 5 gallon jug, transport it home and then put it in the car. These cars were ment to be driven with a higher oct, why can't the law exclude all cars prior to say 1973?? I can think of several reasons why this law makes no sense;
1.As much as law makers would like, old high performance cars are not going to go away and they require a certain amount of this stuff. My 435 runs noticable different with a tank of Cam2. Please don't bore me with the notion that I can set the timing back etc., the car ran on 100+ oct in 1969, why not now.
2. From a safety point of view, riding around with a couple of jugs in the trunk of your car can't be the safest way to transport the stuff.
3. From an environmental point of view, you will always have a certain amount of the stuff leak out when your transfering it into your car. This some how transfers back into the soil when its washed away.
4. What about the fire hazard posed during the transportation and transfer of the stuff.
Just a few thoughts, just got in from purchasing another 5 gallons worth and saw this post. If there should be a petition, this should be at the top of the list.
All the Best

Re: Petition to eradicate N.J front license plate
Rich It is illegal to use the heavy duty cam2 in a vechicle used on the roads.
The person who is selling it to you is covering his butt by not allowing you to put in in your car at his location.
Find a local fuel dealer and purchase a 55 gallon drum (its cheaper by the gallon this way)and just becarefull with the storage of it.- Top

I understand the law, but my argument is, does it make sense? I believe that old high performance cars should be exempt, they are historical in nature if you ask me. The storage of a 55 gallon drum in my garage poses more of a danger to my family and the environment in the event of something bad, no? Just a couple more thoughts.

Re: Petition to eradicate N.J front license plate
Rich sorry but I have to disagree with you on this.It is a good law it is meant to protect us and our enviroment.Any historical car can be made to run on todays pump fuels with out detracting visibly from its factory correct apperance. What we have to give up is some performance.I used to run cam2 exclusively in my performace collector cars.Smelled real cool, every one knew you had a high performance motor when they smelled the cam2.Now I just detune the motors to allow me to run on Sunaco Ulta 94 knowing I can fill up at any Sunaco in my travels.
I live in New York state an emissions testing state for a car inspection and I am just happy to be excluded from that type of testing.
As for the original post about the front plate law.The majority of my cars do not have front plates on them and I have never been stopped or bothered by anyone about not having a plate.I am suprized when I hear of all the tickets folks are getting because of no front plate.- Top

Larry - I live in AZ and my 67 needs to be smog tested, a real PITA. The 66 doesn't, we used to have a 25 year and older clause that was changed to 67 and newer by the legislature....count yourself lucky.......Craig- Top
