    C2 67 Dash Removal

I am going to remove the total dash assy from my 67 coupe. It appears in the AIM that it is "bonded" at the point where it meets the floor just ahead of the Shifter area. Has anyone "broken" these bonds? Are there any precautions other than be careful and don't pry? It appears that the only thing left holding the dash are the rivets on the door pillars and the bolts across the lower windshield cowl. If I can remove this it will make cleaning off the dash area a breeze.

    Steve,

When I did my '63, I used a putty knife and a mallet and tapped it lightly at the point where it makes contact with the floor. It broke very clean right at the floor. I don't think the '67 is any different. But, you may want to wait for others to speak up.

      Steve,

I've taken apart dozens of mid years and have yet to see one dash still bonded to the floorboard. I'm sure they are still out there and many have been found but they are rare after all these years. I would take a putty knife and a small hammer and tap on both sides. There is very little bonding material on either side or the floor.

Don't worry about bonding it back in cause it is held securely by the shifter horseshoe and screws.

Yep, when you get it out cleaning will be a breeze. Worth the effort just to clean around the speaker bezel.

      Regards,

      JR

Thanks for the input... didn't think it would be a hard job but thought I'd check to make sure......
