I have a 1966 425 horse coupe. Real 900 code black car with a VIN of 27706. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a later 425 horse car out there. I was thinking of selling this car and since it was 14 from the end, could it be the last 425 horse car made?

I doubt it, based on the math
On average there was a L72 every 5.3 cars of the 1966 model year. So you'd expect 2 or 3 in the last 14 cars, (or about five 427's, incl. L36's) . And based on 1965 and 1967 end-of-production cars (VIN's 23564 and 22940, respectively), they were both boat anchors. -
'68 L89 based on the math?
If that one doesn't compute, how about a possible first car of production....1968 L89 VIN 000708. Likely?

Highly unlikely -- would "expect" 14 before #708
If L89 production spread evenly, every 45.8 cars would have had this motor.
And "842" alum. heads were in production at least by August '67, as I have a set.Comment
