I have a 1959 Low HP Fuel car undergoing restoration and I have run into a catch 22. My guess is this has probably come up before but I cannot seem to find it by searching this site. So, here are my two questions:
1) Page 381 of Noland Adam's restoration book (1st edition/3rd printing) states that a 1959 250 HP Fuel car "should" have an exhaust crossover pipe. Yet, in the Judging Manual (4th edition) it states on page 61, section 12 that only 290 & 270 HP cars have crossover pipes. My obvious question is where did the Judging Manual get the idea ONLY these cars have a crossover pipe and will it be held against me if I have one? Which is correct? Only one can be!
2) Is there undercoating over the retaining nuts inside the fenders for the Fuel Injection script or was this left off due to their location? It appears mine did have it but I wanted to be sure what I was seeing was not just accumulated dirt. I would think there would be undercoating given the side spear retaining nuts were coated.
