I'm in a rush to get a new set of tires and rims on the old 68 for transport home this weekend, and have called many suppliers of original rims. The going rate is $100 each for the "AG" 15X7 rim. Does this sound right. One gentleman wanted $750 for a set of white sand blasted rims(correctly painted), new GM Caps and rings(I think SS)...Is a $100 each the going rate? jc

Word of Caution
Just a word of caution: there are alot of 15x7 rims "floating around" that are NOT the 1968 AG Corvette rim and the 68 Corvette trim rings will not fit them. Many sellers slap the "Corvette" name to the part hoping for a deal or not knowing the difference. If the e-bay item is the real McCoy it could be a bargain. Just more info. Tom #24014- Top

Re: "Cam change will cost you judging points"
I am rebuildinging my 70 to stock specs. It's a 350/300 Auto. All I can find is the replacement cam with correct lift, but it's a dual pattern service replacement cam thru GM, I can't find an original cam aftermarket or thru GM. Will this dual pattern be noticeable?
Thanks!

Re: "Cam change will cost you judging points"
Jeff,
You should do a little shopping if you want to duplicate the cam. Although, some have said here on the Board they don't like Crane Cams, Crane had a cam a few years back that was sold as an exact duplicate of the 350/300hp cam and another for the 350/350hp. I would check out the archives, and then shop some of the mentioned manufacturers.
I have no idea if the dual pattern cam can be discerned during judging or not.

Dual Pattern is Correct
Jeff and Chuck,
To the best of my knowledge, the original cam for the 300 horse car WAS a dual pattern cam. When investigating extensively back in 1996 prior to my '71 270hp rebuild, I found SEVERAL manufacturers who had this camshaft, or a near twin.
Dual pattern cams have a different profile for intake and exhaust. Look at the Crane CompuCam 2020 (to continue with that example). It has .194/.204 duration for intake/exhaust, and .401/.423 lift respectively for the same. This camshaft is nearly identical to the original 300 horse (or in my case 270 horse, or L-48 in general for years after) camshaft.
The 350 horse cam was a single pattern, at .224 duration and .442 lift on BOTH lobes. This cam WOULD be noticeably different in your car, as noted previously.
For a 350/300 atuo car, I'd look at a cam with .204/.214 lift and .214/.224 duration. It will NOT be noticeable from stock, but give you just a little better breathing. I'd also add 1.5 ratio roller tip rockers to fit under the stock valve covers.
Hope that helps,
