c1 how to test a clock?

I was told that you can test a C1 clock using a battery, but I am not sure if the person meant a car battery or something smaller like a 9-volt battery or something. Can anyone help with this?

    Thanks,

car batt, just grond the case and connect the positive juice to the terminal on the back. you should get an instant "snap" from inside the case as the electric winding mechanism cycles, and then it should start to tick. Otherwise, it's rebuild time
