    '66 BB ENGINE REBUILD/PUSHROD LENGTH

I've read a lot recently on the websites for the various valve train manufacturers regarding pushrod length. I'm replacing the cam and lifters in a '66 390HP. If I'm putting in an original(flat tappet) spec cam, with stock rocker arms, heads etc, is it still necessary to measure for the correct length pushrods needed? I planned on just re-installing the stock, 5/16" rods I removed, but they insist I need to measure for the correct length rod needed after installing the cam and the heads.

if the cam you are using base circle is the same diameter as the stock cam,the deck and heads have not been cut there is no reason to change the pushrod length. manley sells a pushrod length checking device if you want to see for yourself.
