    C1 Carter WCFB

Is there any way of knowing the application of a Carter WCFB if it is missing the tag? Casting number on the top portion is 1396, and the body carries casting number 1465. I'm trying to find a correct carb for my '59. Does anyone repop the tags?

    Kevin,
I show 6-1398 air horn as for '59 thru '61 Corvette with WCFB single 4 BBL. Main body casting 0-1465 shows up as main body for a '64-'65 Corvette with WCFB single 4 BBL. Corvette Central and other venders offer repro tags. Not dated coded therefor easily identified as repro's. Regards,

I got excellent reproduction tags fromMarty Hein, 19740 Forest Rd N, Forest Lake MN 55025. Chicago corvette gets them through him. They were dated and had inspection punches in them. Good Luck. Tom

          Jim,

By chance can you tell me what the casting number should be on the base for a '59? Thank you much!

            Kevin,
'59 WCFB single 4 BBl main body: 0-208 or 0-208, throttle body: 1-1582. Tom gave you the source name for estremely accurate repro carb tags. I tried to find this address for you for previous post, with no success. As he doesn't advertise often, I'd suggest jotting his name down. Regards,

              Jim,

You said "0-208 or 0-208 for main body". Are there two different possibilities, or just the one number 0-208? Thanks.

Sorry Kevin, it was a typo, should read 0-208 or 0-1208. Regards,

                  Kevin,
The #'s I have for 59-60 early are:
                  Carb#2818S, Main Body#0-208 or 0-1208, Air Horn#6-1396 and Throttle Body#1-1582*
*Bases differ to accommodate choke vacuum passage for body casting variations.
The body casting number #1465 is for a 1964-65 Carter WCFB. Your top portion #1396 is correct.
