Could I hear from any fellow members with 1962 4-speed cars that might have a fix for this problem. When driving at highway speeds I have a rattling or buzzing sound from my shifter,it stays constant and at all speeds,it's not terrible but if there is a solution I would sure appreciate the help. Thanks again

Re: C-1 SHIFTER RATTLE
I have my shifter apart right now. At the bottom of the the chrome shifter down below the car (probably cannot see w/o removal?) there is a ball about 3/8" in diameter that rubs against the bracket. My ball was well worn and a path was worn in the bracket. This allows lateral slop. I am getting a new shifter shaft from corvete products in Oxford, MI. This should take care of a lot of the slop.

Re: C-1 SHIFTER RATTLE
Typically this is either the shift linkage a tad loose in the shift levers or it's slight wear in the shifter itself. For grins, go out on the road and duplicate the noise then lift up on your reverse lockout handle and see if the noise evaporates. If it does, you know the source of the noise in the shifter in the cockpit vs. the linkage outside. Adroit use of a THIN clear plastic washer at the bottom of reverse lockout handle is pretty easy fix....- Top
