The screw fell out of the wedge in my steering column collar while it was out of the car. Now that I reinstalled the column, the collar is loose enough for about a 3 degree pivot, and I noticed the wedge screw is missing. It fell out once before, but landed on the car carpet - I found it and put it back. This time I don't know where it is......
What size is the steering column wedge screw?

I can't tell you the size, but Long Island Corvette Supply sells them. Check their online catalog if you don't have the paper one.

Re: What size is the steering column wedge screw?
Sorry...I thought he was talking about the collar that goes around the column at the dash and fastens with 2 screws up into the bottom of the dash. Mine fall out once in a while.
What is the "wedge"?

Re: What size is the steering column wedge screw?
Rich,
On a 63 column there are no ears on the end of the tube and a bearing is pressed into the end with a horn contact ring on it. Because there is no lock plate or ears the boys at GM inserted a pot metal wedge to keep the assy. from slipping up and down the column. Remember that there is no turn signal switch in the 63 column. Just a small cable running to the lower end where is switch is found. There is a philips screw in the indention on the side to lock the wedge securely. When 64 came around the boys at GM invented the column all over again but the upper collar stayed with the indention and empty hole.
Only 63's had the wedge and screw. Another little reason why 63's lead the pack when it comes to strange.
Hope this is clear to you as it is pretty confusing to me after I read the post.
Regards,
