GM Part Number Main Cap Bolts

I am going to replace the main bearing cap bolts on a 1965 327/365, and need the GM part number. Thanks in advance, Joe, or anyone else that can supply the information.

While I have the pan off, is there anything that I should look for on this newly rebuilt (about 100 miles, maybe 15 hours) engine. It is still tight, still gets hotter than I'd like. I see no iron filings in the pan, and nothing on the magnetic plug. This engine is still breaking in, and runs AOK, but as long as I'm in here, I might as well look at.......... ???. Cam lobes look good. There is some scuffing on the skirts....but nothing extraordinary.

      GM part number

Not sure why I got that title on this as I would have thought it would just match the post, here is the info on the bolt.

          Joe-----

If you're after the main cap STUD (used for the 5 positions requiring studs for external baffle installation) then you need the GM #3872718 STUDS that are described above. However, if you need the BOLTS (for the remaining 5 non-stud positions), then you require GM #3872781. These are still available from for a current list price of $2.47/each.

Thanks Joe. I already have the 5 studs. It is 5 of the common BOLTS that I am after. Is that a typo "3872718/81"? No need to answer.......only if it IS a typo.

            Thanks again,
            Joe

              Joe------

It was an unfortunate assignment of part numbers, but 3872781 is the correct part number for the bolts and 3872718 is the correct part number for the studs. When numbers get assigned I don't expect that there's anyone in GM who studies the numbers for possible confusion.

                Thanks..............

                Joe.

Five - "781" main cap bolts are ordered. One 2 3/16" oil pump to main cap bolt is ordered. Thank you again. There are more than a few "mooks" at the GM parts counters who don't know how to reference old parts numbers. If it weren't for the "professor", to source these P/N's , then we would be at the mercy of many less informed folks.
