expansion tank brackets finish jerry clark i have a hp airconditioned car and need to know the proper finish the correct tank for this engine is brass and was used on hp only the n c r s judging manual covers the tank but not the brackets any help will be appreciated thank you

re expansion tank brackets finish john woods i believe the correct paint shade for the bracket bolted to the inner fender and the straps is semi gloss black -

fyi tom buddie i have a ls with a c i'm in the process of re installing the a c that was removed and my expansion tank is also brass i think part of the ls a c option the straps although quite rusty were at one time painted what appears to be a semi gloss black i suspect it is the original finish it's not a but i submitted the info in support of the other postComment

re expansion tank brackets finish terry mcmanmon in i think is the same but will defer to dick whittington the brass expansion tank used with c ac and ls big block was painted with the mounting bracket attached semi gloss balck thus there is no paint on the tank under the mounting straps my guess is this unit arrived at st louis as a painted assembly and was installed as an assembly terryTerryComment

re expansion tank brackets finish terry mcmanmon i have been informed that there is a possibility my earlier message re installation of the surge tank and bracket as an assembly may be in error lets just stick with the semi gloss black and end the discussion there for now anyone with a c and big block in can comment on what they found when they disassembled their car since this thread will soon disappear from the board you may want to e mail me at the above address maybe we can make some more headway here for the judging manual terry
