There is plenty of information about different cams on the forum but I have one additional question I could not find answered. Does anyone here know if a cam can be swapped out while the engine is still in a 327 C2 (1965)? Most cars with clearance would involve dropping the radiator, grill, and loosing the oil pan. Is that about it ??? Thanks ... Ed

Re: C2 Engine In/Out ?
you can swap cams without pulling the entire engine. Fan shroud and radiator need to be removed. think you can pull cam without removing grill but been long time since i've done the job you're about to tackle. good luck, mike- Top

Re: C2 Engine In/Out ?
I was wondering the same thing when I pulled the engine from a '66 big block. The service manual calls for removing the grill to replace just the cam, without specifying if it is for big or small block, but I don't know if it's actually necessary.- Top

Re: C2 Engine In/Out ?
Don't feel bad about the additional work, Rob. You would have always wondered where all that metal from your cam lobe and lifter went if you hadn't pulled the engine and checked everything out. Did you come up with a new cam set up for your engine? If you are still interested, I'll check and post the info on the roller cam I installed in February.- Top

Re: C2 Engine In/Out ?
The cam is from Crane, and they agreed to replace it and the lifters under warranty due to the low miles since the rebuild. Unfortunately, they don't have it in stock right now. Hope I'm not making a mistake replacing it with the same....I'm not the one who broke the engine in, so hopefully doing so properly will avoid any damage to the new one. By the way, thanks again for the advice on what you thought the noise was.- Top

Re: C2 Engine In/Out ?
The new lifters, roller cam and springs came to nearly $1,200.00 in my case. I was certain that my problem did not relate to how the cam had been broken in as I had about 2,000 miles on the rebuild. I really like the new roller cam, although I do have more valve noise during the warm up period. I drive my 67 weekly and it has more horsepower and is more fun to drive with the new cam.- Top
