73 convertible Broaken Frame Repair ?

I have 73 Rag top 454 that I am restoring, I just started. The frame is broaken, and was welded once and rebroaken. I purchased this car from an insurance agent who purchased it after the the owner slamed it into a curve. The agent retired and lost interest in restoring the car. The damage is to the driver side frame, the cross member is cracked at the lower shock suport. While the car needs bodywork the underside of the car looks undamaged. Has anyone had to repar a frame break like this and what is the easiest method. Thank you

Cal,

It is difficult to offer any advice without seeing the damage. Can you take some digital photo's and post them on the board? It might also be wise to have someone in a reputable body shop, one that has experience with Corvettes, take a look at the damage. They can put the car on a frame machine and check to see if it is also bent. Once damage is accessed you can probably get the pieces you need from one of the catalog suppliers.

The lower shock mount should be on the lower A-arm and if not easily repaired, you can replace the arm.

Hi Cal,

Are you talking about the lower front control arm where the shock bolts up, or are you refering to the area where the lower contol arm shaft runs through the frame?
