I need the best place to purchase rubber suspension parts and shock absorbers for a 1966 427/425 hp roadster. I would like to order a complete set of bushings etc. if they sell them, and I want to keep it as original as possible with the hopes of having it judged sometime in the future. What is the penalty if you use urethane parts and shocks that are upgraded? I would also appreciate the best type of positraction and transmission fluid and where you can purchase it. Re: Rubber suspension parts and shocks, posi fluid
use rubber as urethane will haunt ya if you have it judged in the future. beside, most rubber pieces will probably outlive current c-2 owners(exception being the rear spring cushions). anyway, most of the rubber is still available from GM ( was a couple years ago when i stocked up on them). If the shocks you have now are originals, keep them for future judging and just throw on a set of Monroes or whatever your favorite generic brand happens to be.My favorite posi addative is any that contains spermaceti, a whale oil derivative . mike- Top

One sure penalty for urethane is...
The extra-firm ride. Feels real cool at first, but the "ka-thunk" from road imperfections like crosswalk stripes gets old real fast. Then they get a little wear on them and start to rattle, very un-cool. Unless you race on weekends (and I mean on a track with a helmet and everything) stick with neoprene.- Top

Your friendly Chevy dealer has GM Diff Lube #1052271 (you'll need two quarts) and GM Posi Additive ("Limited Slip Differential Lubricant Additive") #1052358, get two bottles - you'll probably need 1-1/2. I ignore the marketing hype for the other umpteen brands/chemistries of whizbang diff lube - the GM stuff has always worked fine for me.- Top
