I seem to always have trouble getting the top ignition shield on my 67 327 to go on easily due to the spark plug wires being in the way. Is there a secret to getting the wires going through the supports to the distributor cap to not interfere with the top shield?? I have tried to pull the wires downward to minimize slack, but now the wires stick out of the lower shielding where they shouldn't.

Re: Upper distributor shield
your problem can be fixed. you'll have to experiment with positioning the wires and getting the plug wire support stands positioned in such a way as to easily re-attach the uppper ing. shield. i assume you have a distributor cap configured like the original delco remys such that you aren't using a cap with towers higher than original caps. i also assume the sb is back in the chassis. unfortunatly for you, the job of plug wire alignment/support stands is so much easier and pleasant a job with the engine on an engine stand. good luck, mike- Top

Re: Upper distributor shield
I didn't realize that there are differences in caps. My cap is a replacement. Is there a way to tell from apparence if my cap is taller than original? Does anyone know where you have to get a replacement cap from that is the shorter style, or does it have to be an original part number?
Also, is the boot to the coil supposed to be a straight type boot or an angle boot? Mine is straight, but it looks like an angle boot would fit lower profile under the shield.- Top
