The Doctor offers an interesting question -
especially in view of the parts offerings by various suppliers of parts that were NEVER used - can we hear from original owners AND Judging Team Leaders - those mysterious souls who NEVER have anythig to say on this board........- Top

Aw, Darn It!...
Loren, you mean know-it-all, blowhard, constant posters with lots of longevity aren't invited!!?
Well, anyway, here's my "uninvited input"...I have been around GM and other brands of cars since the middle 50s, and I never saw any radiator hoses with an "arrow" or "RAD" until the middle to late 70s. I saw it then on a new 76 Buick Skyhawk built in Canada. The hose also had something printed in French...I figured it was to insure the Canajuns got it on right-side-up, sort of like instructions written on the bottom of a boot heel.
But, it sure would be nice to hear from some original owners AND Judging Team Leaders.- Top

Re: The Doctor offers an interesting question -
As a long-time team leader and head of three judging manual revisions, I can tell you that it is easier to get something into a judging manual than it is to get it out. I inherited several bits of information that were incorrect and extremely difficult to eliminate, because once someone has put it in, you have to try to backtrack and see why it was there, and who had entered it. That's not a complaint or an indictment, just a statement of fact. I've owned/judged/documented many 61-62's that were extremely original cars--have never seen the markings the good doctor asks about. But then, I haven't seen every car that came down the line, so I have a difficult time saying none ever came with those,---but no problem with saying I've never seen them and I have my doubts.

No, I think it's worse than that Chuck, I
think that Team Leaders have been INSTRUCTED NOT to participate on this Board......which makes absolutely NO sense to me in the concept of NCRS as I understood from 1976 on....For example, one of the responders to this post, Mike Ernst, and I kicked around for X months the decoding of T-10 assembly dates - and we solved it....we also kicked around ( for about 2 years) whether or not 300HP '62's used a crossover on the exhaust - he finally found 2 original owners that had crossovers - and I added them to my car in time for 1980 San Mateo. I mean the crossover was there, not that it worked.......- Top

My intent was not to berate the manuals
Gentlemen:
I was in no manner berating or otherwise casting stones at the organizations judging manuals. I do not know if this detail is even in these books. As an effete snob, know it all, I have honestly never owned any of these guides. Instead in most cases I have just relied upon my own eyes for this particular trivia.
