C1 parking brake cable clamping to frame

    Hi,

I'm doing a total restoration on my '62, and now I am installing new parking brake cables. I forgot to take a picture on the spot where the parking brake cable is clamped to the frame (I'm talking about the first cable where the other end is attached to the parking brake handle). What part of the cable is supposed to be in the clamp? Is it the very end of the cable surround, or is it further in on the surround? I have tried to clamp the very end, but the clamp seems to be too small. It would be great if someone has a link to a detailed picture, or if someone can e-mail me a picture.

    Thanks,

    Christer

On the end that attaches to the frame braeket, the outer "coil" that the cables rides within has a recessed groove all the way around it. The bolt for the bracket goes through both bracket holes, and this groove snuggles right up against the bolt--the only way that it will fit within the bracket.

      Thanks,

I thought that was the way to do it. I can't get it to fit though. Maybe the reproduction part I bought is not exactly as the original. I'll try to find the old one and compare.

I remember that I had to reshape the clamp a bit on my new repro cable to make it fit...

I found the original in the garbage bin and I can see that there is a significant diference between them. I guess i have to modify the clamp as you say.

          Thanks,
