The GM #1852715 capacitor was originally used in PRODUCTION for 1972 through 1974 Corvettes with U-69/U-79. The 1852715 also SERVICES 1955 through 1962 Corvettes, but I don't think that it was the PRODUCTION part used for those years.

By 1972, there was not discrete, external voltage regulator on Corvette. The function was built into the alternator, but certain Chevy passenger cars continued to use ye olde '515 external v-reg....

1917580 was the Delco Remy PN for voltage regulator RF suppression on 1956-62 Corvettes.

Actually, I somehow missed the fact that the question was about a voltage regulator capacitor, likely because I was too focused on the part number. Anyway, GM #1852715 was an IGNITION COIL capacitor for the applications I listed and the ignition coil application is what I was refering to. I can find no record of it ever being used for a voltage regulator application.
