    conterfiet 67 427 cars

Hito everbody, I had a 67 427 convertable and took the body off and restored everything. I recieved a top flight. 2 years later I tryed again and found the car to be conterfiet. The man before me did a great job doing what he does best make money on 427 corvettes that are 327. I bought a zr1 out of discuse and it is real. I am not satified with out the noise so I want to restore another 67 427. From what I have heard and shown about finding out if it is conterfiet is not true. I have talked to a man that bought a 67 with the same conditions as mine and he got it from the origanal owner and it is real. Now I sold my 67 and im upset if the judges were wrong and I realy had a real one. I was told to ask judges if I am looking for another that they wouild come and look for me. If everybody has different views on origanialty then how do I find one to restore. I am very confused and hurt for all the work I did and still dont KNOW who to listen to. Please help and explain what is right about 67 427 corvette. I am not going to invest in a nother bad car as this is a hobby I would to continue to be active in. My first corvette was a new 65 396 convert and I have had few since then and would like to continue enjoy stingrays.. Please help bob

    Bob,

Your experience sounds disappointing. Evidently your interest is still intact and to me, probably anyone here, that's a good sign. What you're asking for, in "explaining what is RIGHT about '67's", is sort of like asking one of us to do it in 50 words or less. You're at a point where you need take the beginning two steps you might have missed the first time around:

    1) Build yourself a "library".

    2) It's time to do the "homework".

A third thing would be to look in the Archives here. There are postings every week of new and interested guys trying to start out with "no mistakes". Plenty of advise has been saved for exactly what you want.

Also, in your situation, I would advise not to buy anything until you 1) have a "comfortable" knowledge, 2) have an Expert physically present to examine your car of consideration and 3) get involved with NCRS in your area so you can get to know your local Experts personally. Best wishes. Tom #24014
