Hello everyone, i posted about 2 weeks ago with questions about an early 70 LS-5! Well i am going to see the car friday and need a little support or advice to keep me up! This will be my 4th vette - and i know where to look for rust and collision damage -i also have all the #'s that i need to look for--but am i missing something? There is documentation with the car ie: orig window sticker-pop-warrenty book. But please give me some ideas on what else to look for!! She is a little tired and leaks some-so the owner says-but what would be 10 things to really look for to make sure she is the car i want???Thanks THAD #new 32187

Re: 10 things to look for!
I have a 71 LS5 convertable which is my 5th vette. My approach has always been, after the numbers, is what condition am I really willing to accept. Condition is a personal matter in that one of two things will happen. You will spend a lot of $ with alot of your own talent (labor) or spend more dollars with someone elses labor. So you need to decide what your willing to accept. If you don't really care about mechanical items, you can accept less than acceptable drive train, suspension etc. If body and paint are your perference, than wrong paint or minor body repairs (or shoddy) repairs are less of a concern.
I think I would try to verify what the owner has documented. Do a title search no matter how good you feel about the car. Check your local police as well as state records.
I think you are already aware that the easy to see numbers is only the start, try to verify the harder numbers, Transmission, rear carrier, heads, mainfolds (In and out) distributer, carb, glass, etc
The famous front support rivet problem is worth ivestigate, if you don't see them find out why. If they were repaired, how were they repaired. they may come back
Also verify any of the rare options- Top
