will a 77-82 stereo fit in a 69?

I was thinking of adding a cassette player to a 69 coupe. I see many Delco cassette units are listed for 77-82. Will these fit in the 69? Will it require modification?

The 77-82 Delco stereo units cannot be installed in a 68-76 Corvette without extensive modification of bezel. I would definitely NOT recommend any attempt to use one of these units in a 68-76.

There are aftermarket radio/cassette units that will fit without destroying the center gauge bezel. Most Corvette catalogs such as Corvette Central, Zip, Eckler's. etc. list them. They won't be made by Delco.

Mike I left my dash alone with the original radio in my 70. I removed the storage compartment lid and using wood, installed a modern radio into the wood replacing the storage compartment lid. The stereo radio/cassette player is mounted vertical and plays just fine. I can reach it while driving safely keeping eyes on the road. I have a newer radio with separate multi CD player that I have yet to install, but will use the same method of leaving ole 70 factory radio in place. Just another way of doing things.
