    Judging spare tire.

I have always kept my spare tire wrapped in a plastic bag tucked up inside the spare tire well. For flight judging should I remove the bag. Itry to keep the spare as clean as possible. Thanks in advance.

During judging you are expected to lower the spare tire tub, remove the spare and place it behind the car. This is the wheel that the date code for all wheels is verified.

          Jerry,

curious about your comment that this how the date code of the wheel is checked? how are the judges doing this when the tire is mounted? date code is on the inside of the rim! you can't see it with a tire mounted, or are you referring to a rim I know nothing about - which there is a lot I confess I do not know. Rick, the date code on rally wheels is found on either side of the valve stem. Judges use the spare to date all wheels as the trim ring covers this area on the road wheels. Tire removal is not necessary to observe these codes.
