72 rear storage compartment lid frames

I have the DeWitts replacement frames painted & ready to mount and I found that the screw holes do not line up like the originals. Are there any frames out there that are an exact match? I flipped through the judging guide & I see no mention of replacment frames...How does this work for judging? Would I get deductions on this?

    Thanks,
    Tony

Drill new holes in the lids to match the frames. I doubt anybody will measure these. How far off are they?

The scheme of using wood screws to hold the rear compartment frames to the lids was, at best, a POOR design. The press-board the lids are made from typically expands over time and the screws tend to 'walk out'. Gotta believe it's best to drill LARGE holes in your press board frames, install threaded metal inserts and use machine screws with similar Philips head screws vs. original style wood screws.

Also, it's my hunch, the reproduction rear compartment frames were INTENTIONALLY designed with screw holes in different locations.... This would be the only way to make a one-part fits all application since you'd be putting original wood screws back into original press-bard covers in a DIFFERENT physical location where there was a shot at getting a good/fresh bite into unused wood.

Jack, that has always been my theory on the different location for screws. You are lucky if your doors are in good enough to to install new frames on. The fiberboard was not a good idea in a car that leaks as bad as most early cars did
